1. How do I become a borrower at the DTU Library/ the Technical Information Center of Denmark?
DTU employees and student are automaticaly registrated as borrower/user at DTU Library.
Other users not affiliated with DTU can become a borrower by filling in the electronic registration form.
You must comply with the terms for borrower registration of the library regulations to become a borrower.
2. How can I contact DTU Library outside of opening hours?

3. What is my borrower id/borrower number?
Your borrower id is your CPR number (without the dash) and the borrower number is the bar code on the back of you student card or library card.
4. Can I search for articles and article authors in ALIS?
No, ALIS only covers books and printed journals including which volumes of the various journals we have. Articles printed in journals must be found via the databases, e.g. DTU Digital Library (DTU only).

5. How long can I borrow books and journals?
You can borrow books for four weeks, but they are only recalled after six months unless another borrower has reserved the material. As a main rule journals are not for loan.
6. Can I renew loans myself?
No, you cannot renew loans yourself. We refer to our loan rules.
7. How much does it cost to return loans late?
The first and second recall notices are free of charge. The third recall notice consists of a compensation claim equal to the cost of the material plus an administration fee of DKK 150.00 for issuing the claim. If you return the material at this stage, you will only pay the fee.
8. Do I have home access to electronic journals?
Yes, there is remote access to the electronic journals for DTU employees and students. In addition to our electronic journals, you also have remote access to a number of our databases. See a list of the databases in the DTU Reference Guide.
9. What do I do if the material I want is not available at the Library?
You can order journals and articles via Special order in ALIS. Price will appear from the order form.
If you want to recommend a book for purchase, you can do so via Book suggestion – the link can also be found in ALIS.
10. Can I have material sent to my home address?
Yes, just choose “Send” when you order material in ALIS. Please note that there is a fee for postage and administration unless you have a department address at DTU. See the fee in our price list.
